About Desert Oasis Church

Las Cruces

Desert Oasis Church

We are a brand new church.
Our services are simple but powerful and authentic.
Our desire is to be a church that goes after everything God desires to do in us, for us and through us.
We believe and teach that the Bible is the Word of God.
Much more than a history book about what God did,
it is a book about what He desires to do for
and through us today.
We believe the church today should look more like the church of the Bible that transformed their world with truth, compassion and the power of God.

  Dennis and Terri Diaz

God placed Dennis and Terri together after both experienced great heartache as each experienced the loss of their spouses.  They began a long distance relationship, Dennis being in Las Cruces, NM and Terri in Kansas City, MO, which led to a joyous marriage in July of 2018.

Terri has served as a missionary with Youth with a Mission for 2 years in Tijuana, Mexico and then 17 years in France where she and her first husband Chris planted a church together.

Dennis came to Las Cruces in 1993 with his wife TJ to pastor Mesilla Park Community Church, which he did for 26 years and was later relocated and renamed “Real Life Church.”

Dennis and Terri left Real Life Church and began a new work – Desert Oasis Church, which met for the first time  in a pecan orchard in May 2020 in the midst of the COVID crisis.  Their story of the goodness and healing of God in the midst of tragedy has brought healing and hope to many.

Together they have 7 children and 4 grandchildren.  They enjoy spending time together, ministering together, eating together, entertaining together and traveling together.  They just enjoy being together!

Their life verse  is Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord.  They are plans to prosper you and in no way to bring you harm – plans to give you hope and a good future.

Their motto is: God’s best is yet to come!

What We Believe

Bible.

The Bible is the Word of God in all parts. It was written by human authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and has been supernaturally preserved over the centuries. It is the inspired, infallible revelation of God to man and the sole authority of faith and conduct. It stands alone among all literature in the world in revealing God, the way to fellowship with Him, the lifestyle that pleases Him and truth.

God.

There is one God who is the Creator, Sustainer and Ruler of all things. Although one in essence, He exists eternally in three persons - the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, known as the Trinity. He is both holy and personal. His existence and nature is revealed in creation, the Word of God and most clearly through Jesus Christ, who was God come in the flesh.

Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, equal with the Father and Holy Spirit. He took the form of human flesh in which he was fully God and fully man. He was born of the Virgin Mary by the Holy Spirit flesh lived a sinless life, confirming his identity and message with mighty works, wonders and signs. He offered His life as payment for sins for all people; was crucified, died, and was resurrected on the third day. He ascended to the Father’s right hand. He will come again personally, bodily, and visibly to judge the living and the dead, reward the righteous and establish His Kingdom.

Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is God, co-equal with the Father and Son. He acts to draw persons to salvation in Jesus Christ by convincing them of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He indwells all believers at the moment they are saved and makes available to each Christian power, understanding and discernment for victorious living, as well as gifts for service.

Salvation.

Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for the sin of all people in every generation. There is no other way to be saved but to turn to Christ and trust in His death as payment for sins. Turning to Christ involves believing in His death, burial and resurrection; receiving His forgiveness; inviting Christ to enter into one’s life by His Spirit and give power to live a life pleasing to Him. Salvation is the forgiveness of sins, breaking the power of sin, eternal life, adoption into God’s family, the impartation of a new nature, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and entrance into a personal relationship with the God of the universe. A person who has been truly saved should give evidence of this new life in Christ by growing in the fruit of the Holy Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-23).

Eternal Security.

Salvation is about the grace of God from beginning to end. Although sin can interrupt a Christian’s fellowship with God, it cannot interrupt a person’s relationship with God or diminish in any way God’s love for him/her. Salvation is a relationship with the living God – specifically, it is being adopted as God’s own sons and daughters. As a good and loving Father, God will not disown even one of his children.

The Baptism/Filling of the Holy Spirit.

Although every Christian is indwelt by the Holy Spirit, not every Christian is baptized or filled with the Spirit, which is received by faith and results in greater intimacy with God, power for holy living and giftings for ministry.

Spiritual Gifts.

We believe that all the gifts of the Holy Spirit listed in Scripture are available and in operation in the Body of Christ today to build up the church and edify the believer. All believers are commanded to earnestly desire the manifestation of the gifts in their lives.

The Church.

The Church consists of all those who truly believe in Jesus Christ and His atoning death, and who trust in Him as their Lord and Savior. We believe that God works through local churches to reach the lost, disciple the saved and equip and send them to establish His kingdom on earth.

Divine Healing.

Healing of all types of sickness is illustrated in the life and ministry of Jesus and is included in the commission of Jesus to His disciples. We believe that the healing of our infirmities is a blessing included in the atonement of Jesus Christ. (Psalm 103:2-3; Isaiah 53:5; Matthew 8:16-17; Acts 8:6-7; James 5:14-16; 1 Corinthians 12:9, 28; Romans 11:29).

Eternal Destiny.

The righteous, those who have placed their faith in Christ, shall be resurrected to eternal life and reward in heaven. The unrighteous, those who have refused to believe in Christ, will be resurrected to eternal death and judgment in hell.
